On July 12, 2017, Braille Institute Los Angeles hosted a “Low Vision and Aging In Place” Conference. People affected by vision loss and their adult children were encouraged to attend this free conference to learn about resources available to help people with vision loss (i.e. cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, or other eye related conditions) age in place.
Attendees enjoyed a free breakfast and lunch. There were presentations by Dr. Amir Kashani and Dr. Alena Reznik from USC Roski Eye Institute at Keck Medicine of USC. For those interested in yoga, there were two sessions made available. In addition to the doctors’ presentations, attendees could learn about DMV vision standards and eligibility for a limited term license, and what apps are best for ride sharing.
This event was made possible thanks to support from the Meta & George Rosenberg Foundation. And we would also like to thank the following sponsors: USC Roski Eye Institute, Enhanced Vision and NuEyes USA.
