Many of us are still spending the majority of time staying safe at home during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The pandemic has made it difficult to access some programs and services during this time. There are, however, quite a few services for the visually impaired that have pivoted to a remote model. These services can help you learn new skills and improve your quality of life.
Here at Braille Institute, you may take a wide variety of classes and workshops. These offerings cover topics such as Orientation and Mobility Basics, Fall Prevention, How to Download Books, Introduction to Smart Speakers, and much more. The classes and workshops are a great way to enhance your independent living skills. You can also learn more about technology to find ways to get the most out of devices like your smartphone.
One of the other services for the visually impaired that we offer at Braille Institute is free library service. Qualified Southern California residents can register to become a library patron, giving you access to thousands of titles in Braille and audio formats. Books are another good way to learn new skills. The library offers downloadable titles and will loan you a digital player to listen to your audio books. There are online workshops available to help you learn how to search for and download titles, too.
You do not have to miss out on services for the visually impaired during the pandemic. There is a myriad of lessons, workshops, tutorials, and more available online for visually impaired people of all ages. Find out more about what Braille Institute has to offer!
