2024 Braille Challenge Winners Announced

Braille Institute proudly announces the winners of the 2024 Braille Challenge competition, recognized at the Finals Award Ceremony held  Saturday, June 22, 2024 on the University of Southern California campus. Read more…

Celebrating its 24th year, Braille Challenge is the only academic competition of its kind for students in grades 1-12 who are blind or visually impaired. This year, the top 50 students were invited to Braille Challenge Finals from a pool of over 1,100 competitors from across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Organized by Braille Institute, 50 finalists experienced a weekend filled with fun, a concert from the USC Marching Band, making new friends and friendly braille literacy skills competition which culminated when students walked the red carpet to attend the Braille Challenge Finals Awards Ceremony.

Braille Challenge is the only academic competition of its kind held each year in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia for students who are blind or visually impaired. Braille Institute developed Braille Challenge to motivate students to practice and hone their braille literacy skills, which are essential to academic and employment success.

As part of Braille Challenge, Braille Institute is proud to announce the recipients of our inaugural Community Hero Award. Presented to forward-thinking institutions across three categories—corporate, government, and nonprofit—the award recognizes work that inspires blind and visually impaired youth to focus on braille literacy.
