“I was afraid that when I lost my vision I wouldn’t be able to be creative, but I have found out that I still can be, and this makes me feel both comforted and content.”
— Linda Boicourt, student, Santa Barbara Center
Braille Institute’s creative arts program develops skills that lead to independence and personal expression, as well as social and community involvement.
Even when an individual has no sight or begins to lose their sight, their need to create, to imagine, and to make art does not go away. By using memory, any residual vision, touch, and imagination, people who are blind or visually impaired can create wonderful art.
