Dear Friend,
This season is a very special time of year for all of us — the cooler weather, the festive music, the delicious foods, and especially the gathering together of friends and family. For holiday festivities here at Braille Institute, we come together and celebrate with music programs, boutiques of student art, and sharing meals with each other. These gatherings reflect a heartfelt spirit of community that has deep meaning to our students, volunteers, and staff. Along with the life-changing skills students learn at Braille, the opportunity to connect with others who are visually impaired is one of the most profound gifts they receive from us.
Thanks to your support, we can continue to provide a stimulating and supportive environment for our dedicated students — all FREE of charge. We can show them that they are not alone and that through the classes they take, the skills they learn, and the friends they make here, life holds for them great promise.
In this issue of Scene, you’ll read about Ruth who feels that what she has learned at Braille Institute is the best gift she could possibly receive this year. And you’ll read about Armen who has found a way to pass this gift on to others for years to come.
All of us at Braille Institute wish you a joy-filled holiday season and send heartfelt thanks for all that you do.
