Classes & Workshops
We offer services remotely online, over-the-phone and in-person with required COVID protocols.
For remote services, once you register, you then participate by video online, or phone, within the comfort and safety of your home. Like all of our programs and services, Braille’s remote service offerings are free of charge. Learn how Braille’s remote classes, workshops and services work, here.

Programs & Services

Low Vision Consultations
At Braille Institute Santa Barbara Center free one-on-one consultations with Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialists can help determine the correct devices to maximize your remaining vision.

In-Home Services
Our consultants address quality of life changes, kitchen confidence, using technology, and orientation and mobility, focusing on your specific goals, degree of sight loss and home environment.

Classes, Workshops & Events
Lifestyle classes, activities and workshops help adults with sight loss build practical skills, regain independence, learn about the latest in medical development, and foster a sense of community. Individuals may sign up at any time.

Library
Library patrons have access to more than 18,000 magazines, newspapers, and book titles in English and Spanish. We also offer free digital book machine readers, and downloadable books.

Connection Pointe
Through our Connection Pointe technology center, we offer free instruction and demonstrations on all the latest mainstream and adaptive devices.

Youth Program
This program for infants, children and teens, who are blind or visually impaired, creates opportunities to gain life experiences fostering confidence, self-esteem and independence, leading to higher education and employment.

Outreach
Our staff and volunteers are available to give presentations, low vision consultations, lead peer support groups and table at events.
